A temporary residence permit can be based on an investment in the share capital of a Latvian company. This method provides several advantages:

✅ Free movement in the Schengen area: the opportunity to travel around Europe without additional visas.
How to get a residence permit in Latvia by investing in a company?
The permit is issued for up to two years. The investment is at least EUR 50,000 in a company with no more than 50 employees and a turnover or balance sheet of up to EUR 10 million (permits on this ground go to no more than 10 foreign nationals per company), or at least EUR 100,000 in a larger company; a first permit also requires a payment of EUR 10,000 to the state budget. While the permit is valid, the company must pay at least EUR 40,000 in taxes each reporting year (smaller company), or at least EUR 100,000 together with its Latvian subsidiaries (larger company); refunded or refundable taxes do not count. A company tax debt above EUR 150 can lead to refusal or cancellation. Russian and Belarusian citizens cannot apply on this ground. The new route of investing EUR 150,000 in a state alternative investment fund cannot be used yet, as the fund has not been set up (Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, 15 September 2026).
